American Book Awards Program

From the website of – Before Columbus Foundation

The American Book Awards Program is not associated with any industry group or trade organization. The American Book Awards offer no cash prize nor do they require any financial commitments from the authors or their publishers. The Award winners are nominated and selected by a panel of writers, editors, and publishers who also represent the diversity of American literary culture.

Submissions

There are no application forms, fees, or any other restrictions for submissions, nominations, or recommendations to the panel. The book is what matters, not the procedure. The only requirement is that two copies of the book must be mailed to the Before Columbus Foundation by December 31st for consideration for the following year’s Awards. Anyone may make a submission (it does not have to be the publisher). There is no limit on the number of titles that may be submitted. All genres are accepted (including anthologies, children’s books, and multimedia). You may include reviews, publicity, or other informational material with your submission if you wish.

Wanted – Old Books

Wanted Poster1Was your book published prior to January 1, 2012?

If so, how are the sales for this book?

If it is not doing so well, “Relaunch” it.

In 2015, I will be creating an online magazine that will bring older books to the attention of new readers.

The magazine will be released quarterly:

March, June, September, and December.

This is a FREE magazine.  I will be able to keep it free because I will be selling advertisement space.

I am still working out many things to get this magazine off the ground.

If you are interested in showcasing your book in the March 2015 issue, please visit

http://www.cynharris.com/magazine.html

to fill out the information request form

As things get worked out—like a name for the magazine, etc. – I will announce them here on this blog.

Something New For 2015

I have been busy with work, the farm, writing, the grandkids, and all the crafts that I like to do.

This year I have spent time spotlighting authors for Virtual Book Tours.

In 2015, I want to do something new.  I want to take a look at books that no one has seen for a while.

Did you publish a book prior to January 1, 2012?

If so, how is it doing?   Not too many, if any sales these days.

No one wants to buy it.  No one sees it.  It is no longer on the bookshelves.  It is not high on Amazon’s list.

In 2015, I will be creating an online magazine that showcases older books.  This will be a FREE service to authors, promoting your older work.

How can I offer a FREE service like this?

With your help, by spreading the word and me offering “advertising space” in the magazine.

The magazine will be quarterly – March, June, September, December.  It could grow to bi-monthly or even monthly depending on how many books are sent in.

What else will be in the magazine?

  • Book promotion hacks/tips
  • Book marketing hacks/tips
  • Articles pertaining to writing
  • Author Interviews
  • Advertisements
  • And so much more

If this is something you are interested in download the form below, fill it out, and send it to me at

Support the Creation of “Adam’s Animals”

Ant

Proverbs 6:6 “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”

 See also:  Proverbs 30:25

The wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, wrote the Book of Proverbs – a book of wise sayings to help us live godly lives. In this verse, Solomon points out that it is foolish to be idle and lazy. He says that we should learn from the example of the ant who doesn’t laze around and wait to be told what to do, but is willing to work hard and do what needs to be done.

Did you know?

  •  Ants are from the insect family
  • Ants can lift 20 times their body weight
    • Ants have two stomachs – one to hold the food for itself and one to hold food to be shared with other ants
    • There are 3 kinds of ants in a colony: the queen, the female workers, and males
    • Ants communicate by using chemicals called pheromones
    • Ants don’t have ears but they “hear” by feeling vibrations in the ground

About Campaign to raise funds for this book:

Kickstarter is a way to bring a creative project to life with the direct support of friends, colleagues and family.  My [Kimberley Payne] book project, “Adam’s Animals”, is one of the endeavours found on Kickstarter.

“Adam’s Animals” is a children’s activity book that features more than 40 animals mentioned in the Bible and little-known facts about each. It’s ideal for 6 to 9 year olds, for home or school use and classroom sharing in grades 1-3 to supplement the Life Sciences Curriculum on Animal Life. It is the second book in the Science and Faith Matters series. The first book, “Trees of the Book – Learning from God’s Creation”, is a colourful introduction to trees, leaves and their corresponding Bible stories.

As the book creator, I have set a funding goal of $3500, with a deadline of February 28th, 2014. If you like my book idea, you can pledge any amount of money to make it happen.

As the book backer, you choose from a number of rewards based on the amount of financial support you pledge. For example, backers who pledge a minimum of $5, will receive a choice of one of two of my e-books: 1) Fit for Faith – 7 weeks to improved spiritual and physical health, OR 2) Women of Strength – a devotional to improve spiritual and physical health. Backers who pledge a minimum of $15 will receive an autographed copy of “Adam’s Animals”. Backers who pledge a minimum of $175 will be listed on the “Dedication” page at the back of the book PLUS will receive an autographed copy of “Adam’s Animals”.

Backing “Adam’s Animals” is more than just giving money. Writers need encouragement and you would be supporting my dream of creating a valuable resource for children and parents.

Book Fair Fun and Give-Away Information

The book fair begins on Sunday, July 21, 2013 and there will again be prizes given away.

We are doing the prizes differently.  Instead of signing up for prizes via Rafflecopter, the participants will need to download the catalog that will be available at Black Lilac Kitty Book Promotion (http://www.blacklilackitty.com) on Sunday and read through/look through the catalog to see how to enter for prize drawings, find book promotion specials, etc.

We thought that many people look for the Rafflecopter sign-up and ignore the purpose of the fair, which is to promote authors and their works.  So, in order to participate in the give-aways, you must at least flip through the catalog.  And hopefully, something in the catalog will catach your eye.

Prizes include:

Books

Gift Cards

Specials on Book Promotion

And other stuff

Hope to see you around the “fair grounds”
