Gwen Battis is the illustrator of Hark! I Hear a Meadowlark.    She has drawn pictures all her life. Mostly self-taught, working with graphite pencil until, as an adult, incorporated her natural talent with other methods, such as, water colors, colored pencil, and pastels. Gwen is happily married to a wonderful guy and has two teenage boys.
