Stephen Covey, Author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, died

It hit me like a ton of bricks.  The news that Stephen Covey died July 16, 2012.

I was first introduced to Covey’s work years ago when I took a workshop on leadership and interpersonal communication skills and have followed his work ever since.

Here are some Stephen Covey quotes:

“I am personally convinced that one person can be a change catalyst, a “transformer” in any situation, any organization. Such an individual is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf. It requires vision, initiative, patience, respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming leader.”

“There are three constants in life… change, choice and principles.”

“While we are free to choose our actions, we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions.”

“Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character…”

Rest in peace Dr. Stephen Covey.
